Queensland power reality and hashrate plans
Visitors often arrive with a hashrate target copied from an online calculator. In Garbutt workshops we start somewhere quieter: which circuit will carry continuous load, how hot the enclosure becomes after lunch, and whether the tariff you actually pay still supports that target in February.
Measure before you multiply units
A single ASIC may look modest on paper until you add PSU inefficiency and a second fan bank. During Mining Fundamentals we run demonstration units on metered PDUs so guests can see draw climb as boards heat. That number — not the marketing wattage alone — belongs in any expansion plan.
Heat is a schedule, not a footnote
Queensland summers shrink the hours when a poorly ventilated shed can reject heat. Guests who log ambient temperature for a week before buying often revise their plans downward. That is a successful outcome in our crypto mining education work: fewer tripped breakers and fewer silent, overheated boards.
